Emilie & Mike
A wedding in Aegina
Emily and Mike, two unique and lovely people from France celebrated their wedding in Aegina. I feel honored to have been part of it! We started searching for a location somewhere close to Athens, that would be easily reached by the couple and their guests, and although neither Emily nor Mike had ever visited Aegina Island before, it was a love at first site!
This wedding lasted 3 days, it was a great experience for everyone who participated, even for the locals, that embraced us and did their best to make us feel welcomed.
On the first day, a welcome dinner had been arranged at a local restaurant, to introduce all the guests into the wedding mood, where Greek food and wine were served. On the wedding day, the wedding ceremony took place in a traditional chapel with beautiful views of the Aegean Sea. A touching moment was when the neighbors who were spectators to the wedding agreed to put the favorite song of the bride in loudspeakers to accompany the procession of Emily. What a feeling that was. This is Greece and the Greek hospitality. I remember our anxiety trying to find online that specific song that came as a total surprise to her! Later on, everyone headed for the wedding reception to one of the most beautiful old mansions on the island, “Kokkino Kastro”. Their dj came from France and the party was a hit! Guests enjoyed the wedding dinner, drunk and danced until early morning hours. On the third day, a BBQ party was set by the mansion’s pool, that lasted until late in the afternoon and made the perfect conclusion on this 3-day experience.
