Iria & Max
A wedding in Syros
The blue waters of the Aegean sea combined with the culture and history of the island, the wonderful sunset, the boutique hotels and the hospitality of its inhabitants make Syros a very attractive wedding destination. That was what Iria & Max thought and chose the capital of the Cyclades for their wedding. Iria, a Greek who went to study abroad and Max a German, met each other in Switzerland, fell in love and decided to travel with their friends and families to Syros to seal their love. A promising three day wedding was just starting!
The bride stayed with her friends at a boutique hotel in Vaporia area with a view of Tinos island and the groom at a small hotel in the heart of the town. Both only a few steps from the church.
They first had a Catholic ceremony at a picturesque church in Ermoupolis and then they walked along the alleys of Syros to get to the Orthodox church for the second ceremony. The dusty pink and white roses was the theme of the day with candles everywhere! As they are both chemists their wedding favours were tubes, which travelled all the way from Switzerland!
After the two ceremonies ended, everyone walked to Asteria beach for the party. The couple arrived at the venue in a traditional wooden boat that surprised all who witnessed. Soon after the couple cut the cake, a big surprise was waiting the guests. A group of local dancers performed and at the end invited everyone to a short dance lesson!
The reception was highlighted by the tango the couple danced! That night was full moon, there as much wind as needed for the flying lanterns to go high in the sky taking away all the wishes the guests made for the couple!
