Siobhan & Fergal

A Wedding in Paros

This was my first Irish wedding and what a joy that was!!!! I worked with Siobhan and Fergal for more than a year and I when finally met them during the inspection trip, I realised how much the Irish people resemble to Greeks. Funny, enthusiastic, full of energy, happy people…. so Paros was the best choice to host their celebration as it has a bit of everything you’d expect from an island in the Cyclades archipelago – whitewashed villages, blue-domed churches, blonde-sand beaches, fishing harbours overlooked by taverna tables, plus lively bars and cafés.

Most of the guests stayed in Boudari and the area near Golden Beach. The first night all guests gathered at Boudari Hotel to be welcomed by the hosts with a BBQ and lots of Heineken!!!! It was a warm and cosy atmosphere!

The wedding ceremony took place at the Catholic Church in Naoussa, followed by a toast at Silence of the Fish. The reception took place at Poseidon of Paros a superb location next to the sea which was romantically decorated with lots of fairy lights and candles. The guests enjoyed a welcome drink listening to Greek music performed live by a group of local musicians while the wedding party were on a photo shoot. The party was great and ended up very late. Nevertheless they still had energy to continue the next morning with a brunch at a beautiful beach bar on Golden beach. Late the same evening they took the flight back to Athens and Ireland taking with them lovely memories!
